What's On Today?

So I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day, I know I did! So I had such a good time that I stayed in bed all day and only put on some light makeup before work. For a quick natural look that perked up my appearance without being too much work I used:

First I had to get myself perked up, so I slathered on  SPARITUAL Instinctual Organic Lotion W Ginger

What they say:

Product Description

If you are prone to habitual midday exhaustion and your skin is feeling parched, try SpaRitual Instinctual Organic Moisturizing Lotion. It contains Root Chakra-balancing and energizing Ginger Oil combined with highly moisturizing Avocado Oil, soothing Aloe, and smoothing Shea Butter.

What I say:
I first got this through Beauty Fix, and it's easy to see why this was an official Beauty Fix pick. This lotion is so hydrating that you can feel your skin thanking you for putting it on. It's incredibly concentrated so a little goes a long way. It's quick absorbing, so your skin feels soft not greasy. It really DOES perk you up, it's great for those long days and late shifts. And the smell? Ohhhhh, the smell. I'm a ginger junkie, so if you don't the scent of ginger stay away, but if like me you find it irresistible, you will be in nirvana. This is one of the few items that I got a sample size of that I had to go out and buy the full size immediately so that I could slather it all over myself with abandon!

I have mentioned previously my paranoia about aluminum based pit products. one that I have found and absolutely LOVE is Adidas for Women absorbent-deo with cotton tech.
 Adidas Cotton Tech

This aluminum free formula uses some wacky new technology that consists of microscopic cotton that keeps you dry and stink-free. It works really well- not as well as a full on antiperspirant, but almost, believe it or not! I find the light scent to be pleasant and it goes on really smoothly and doesn't feel slimy or sticky. I was able to get through the Texas summer using this and even when I did sweat it wasn't rank.

So when I'm lazy, I'm lazy. So I love tinted moisturizer to save me the 60 seconds of the additional step. The best thing about tinted moisturizers though is that you have a natural 'no-makeup' look but your skin tone gets an evening out and minor flaws are toned down.
Wet N Wild Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer w SPF 15
While not the fanciest option on the block, this drugstore cheapie does a decent job. I got a compliment from a co-worker recently while wearing this, "you look good natural! I wish I had your skin!" I wanted to claim that it's my natural good genes, but I owned up to using a tinted moisturizer. The Natural shade is a good universal light shade and is what I use. The main thing you have to watch for is to look in the mirror when you apply it, unlike regular moisturizer it will look funky if not applied evenly! Don't try to put on too thick a layer, or you might as well just use standard foundation. Remember, the point of this stuff is to lightly enhance your natural beauty. If you need heavy coverage, this will not help.

ULTA Cheek Color

ULTA brand cheek colors go on smoothly thanks to the chamomile extract in the formula (supposedly). The color when applied to the apples of the cheeks gives a rosy glow that mimics the look you get from coming in out of the cold. It makes you appear quite the snow bunny! I really do wish they would start to have their cosmetics made somewhere besides China, however, and you do need to tap the brush before application as you will pick up a lot of product with each swipe. Normally I'd complain that this is wasteful of the product, but it's affordable enough that it's really no big deal.

SMASHBOX Lash DNA Mascara
The company line:

Product Description

Long lashes not in your genes? Our revolutionary new scientifically-engineered mascara is packed with proteins and amino acids that bind to lashes for genetic defying length and strength. The unique double helix brush grabs each lash, no matter how small, for the ultimate fanned out effect. Dramatic jet black shade intensifies and defines. Defy genetics with Lash DNA Mascara. Revolutionary Double Helix Brush - Specially-engineered design dramatically lengthens, separates & defines each lash - Delivers intense, jet black lashes in just one coat - Lashes instantly look bigger, bolder, longer & more defined

My line? I tried an experiment with this once- putting it on one eye with lash primer and one without. Believe it or not I couldn't tell a difference between the two! WOW! So I love Lash DNA for when I'm in a hurry but still want to have a little bit of a put together look. It goes on quick and easy, doesn't need lots of layers and provides high impact kapow! BRAVO! Smashbox rarely disappoints and here's another winner.

Estee Lauder Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder
I use this in the light shade, and I LOVE how airbrushed it makes me look! This is definitely one of my go-to standbys. Supposedly they have a light diffusing ingredients that break up light reflection to create a soft focus effect. Well it works! It doesn't go on thick or over powdered looking, it's simply a soft matteifying effect.

Jenulence Alkanet Root DMAE Lip Balm
This falls under "product I am going to marry and have babies with". Seriously, this balm is amazing. A light color is added to your lips without looking like you have anything on them- as if you have naturally lush rosy lips. This really reminds me of Lipstick Queen Medieval without the $20 price tag. You get a beestung look and the balm absorbs into the lips instead of just sitting on top in a waxy tectonic plate. It doesn't wear away like so many balms and glosses do because of the excellent absorption and moisturization and one application lasts a good long time. I could see this being boffo with the metrosexuals.
The company line:

I've seen a lot of complaints that the newer Sephora liner line is too short, but frankly I think it's a good idea. I wind up having to toss a loy of liners because they get funky before I can use them up, so if making the pencils shorter allows them to keep them at such a low price  I'm all for it. I also like that these are made in France as opposed to China (Ulta, are you listening?) Infused with shea butter, they glide on without pulling at the skin and have great staying power. Just as good (if not better) than more pricey brands. I love the pretty praline color, and a tiny swipe on the crest of the top lip and the base of the bottom lip before putting on the Jenulence Balm really makes your lips look larger and more plump.
