What's On Today?

Paula Dorf Perfect Primer

for normal/dry skin

Since it's winter and everyone in Texas INSISTS on overheating every buliding, my skin is a little dryer than normal. This is the perfect time to use this makeup primer, since it smoothes out my skin so I don't have weird ooky flaky or dry looking spots when I put in my foundation. They recommend applying with a foundation brush, but I find that too wasteful since this goes on really smoothly and with less waste just by using your middle finger tips. It absorbs really quickly and makes your skin baby butt-y without being greasy. And it really does seem to keep me looking fresh through a 2 jobber day.

Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials

This is a waterproof eyeshadow base that actually has some color to it. It does it's job of keeping eyeshaodws from creasing as quickly, though it doesn't seem to last as long as some others I've tried. What I DO really like about it though is the hint of color. I have this weird red spot on my eyelid and it does a perfect job of covering that up since it often shows through my lighter shadows.
Signature Club A Powdery Creme Foundation With sunscreen
Anchorwoman Blue Undereye Cover
Contour Face Shaper
Color Transformer (highlighter)

Not recommended. Even though this brand is the darling of QVC, I know why you can't buy it in stores. They don't want to subject employees to face to face confrontations with irate drag queens.
Maybe it's just my particular skin cause I know my mom always loved their stuff. On me, the foundation sinks into my pores even with a primer and makes me look like I have foundation colored blackheads (peachheads?). Even though it's supposedly "blending makeup" there's no combination that doesn't look like I've spackled my face. It leaves a definite makeup mask and if you try to blend it onto your neck to minimize the atrocious effect, it stains your clothing. I'll leave this at work for emergency "I forgot my makeup" moments, but I have a feeling it'll be gathering dust for a loooooong time.

The undereye cover makes me look old and tired and seems to further accentuate my tired eyes and fine lines.

The contour face shaper gives that oh so subtle and natural drag performer look.

The color transformer would be a good highlighter if it weren't so greasy feeling.

BLUCH.

Ths is more like it. A subtle touch of color that looks like naturally rosy cheeks. With the right fluffy brush it goes on smooth and soft. I'm not a big fan of the squared off brush it comes with as it makes the angles too sharp. I definitely suggest using a poofier blush brush with a good long handle.
