I think this might be the first book on weight loss that I've ever read that actually spoke to me. Conceptually it's so far beyond normal weight loss advice. By accessing my spirituality in this journey/battle I feel like I have a deeper understanding of what I'm doing, how and why. Approaching it from a zen standpoint is something I never really thought of doing and it's really helping me so far. I've studied yoga, meditation and miindfulness but never thought of applying it in such a practical way to my life. To go at with beginner's mind instead of with a sledgehammer has put me more at peace with my body and now I feel like I'm working WITH it instead of against it. I wanted to lend it to a friend of mine, but I dunno, I kind of want to be able to access it whenever I want! I read it quickly all the way through first and now am going back and really focusing on one section at a time and somewhat meditating on it.
The book in and of itself is well written- intelligent and clear with focus. I'm getting so much more than I expected from this book!
Bonus- if you have Amazon Prime, you can borrow it for free! (I swear, getting Prime was the best thing I ever did. I have streaming of tv, movies, music, can borrow just about any book in existence to read on my tablet and phone PLUS free 2 day shipping. They have a free trial available if you want to try it out. I just got 4 print magazine subs for free because I have Prime- I picked Allure, Glamour, Bon Appetit and Popular Science. FREE! Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial )
Mindful Eating - Holistic, Sustainable Weight Loss
Forget everything you've been told about losing weight. Modern science treats weight loss from a physical perspective. But our daily decisions begin in the mind. Mindful eating and mindful living can help you with holistic and sustainable weight loss.
Weight loss is an integrated process, and this book shows you how everything falls into place. The Mindful Life Weight Loss program outlines five areas of weight loss: mindfulness, diet, activity, relational thinking, and nature.
Building on the practice of mindful eating and awareness, you will learn how each area of your life is influenced by the other areas. You will make joyful, small goals, and start on the holistic and sustainable path toward ending your struggles with weight.
