Make Your Own Soothing Deep Tissue Lavender Massage Butter

As good at nourishing the skin as it is to facilitate a body-soothing massage, this coconut and macadamia oil based massage butter is easy to make and a delight to experience.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup macadamia oil
  • 48 drops lavender essential oil

Directions:

  1. Measure coconut oil and macadamia oil into a saucepan or double boiler.
  2. Under low, gentle warming heat, melt the oils then remove from heat.
  3. Add lavender oil and pour into tin or jar with a tight fitting lid.
  4. Allow to cool until partially solidified ( I put mine in the fridge cause this is Texas....)
  5. Scoop out small amounts and massage over body.

I used to purchase my essential oils at places like Whole Foods and would pay for a tiny bottle of Aura Cacia what you can get a huge 4 oz bottle for on Amazon - I made this using goPURE 100% natural Bulgarian essential lavender oil

Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil,, which also makes the most amazing grilled cheese sammiches ever, by the way.....  (normally I use fractionated coconut oil in stuff like this, but you want it to solidify into a butter and fractionated stays liquid.)

and this super cheap macadamia nut oil that is at least half to 2/3 less than most because it's not marketed in a fancy bottle bottle or with a fancy label.

2PM Essentials Frosted Glass Roll On Bottles for Perfume, Wax, Lip Balm, Essential Oils, Deodorant, Frosted Cobalt Blue, 10ml I'm using these gorgeous rollerball bottles by 2PM Essentials

  • ✓ These metal balls have a perfect tight fit that won't ever leak. With the bottle inverted, the weight of the steel ball creates a seal preventing oil release. A quick shake allows the release of the oil for a smooth and even application every time
  • ✓ The durable brushed stainless steel cap screws on securely and protects your essential oils while maintaining an elegant look and feel
  • ✓ Certain oils & chemicals do not interact well with cheap plastic balls and possibly ruin the rolling mechanism. Stainless steel roller balls do not erode and will continue to roll on smoothly every time
  • ✓ glass bottles are not painted and will not scratch easily
  • ✓ Elegant cobalt blue frosted bottles have a deep rich and dark color to prevent light damage to sensitive oils.

aVo 100% Natural Bulgarian Essential Lavender Oil

I've used essential oils for everything for something like 20 years, at one point I actually sold handmade bath and body products. Until recently, even in a big city like Dallas, you had to buy essential oils in hidden away specialty shops or overpriced natural food stores. I remember paying for a 1 oz bottle of lavender oil what this FOUR OZ bottle costs!

It's a deep, rich lavender scent, a pure oil with no additives and no bitter afterscent. It's not cloying like some lavender oils can be.

As far as packaging goes, it's intelligently done so as to get the best out of your oil. It's in a dark bottle to keep it from degrading due to light exposure. When stored with a dropper, you get air into it through the rubber which affects the oil and can cause the scent to seep out. On the same hand, you really want a dropper for actual product dispersal. With aVo, you get the best of both worlds.
